Rector Field House is the home of
Virginia Tech's indoor track and field program.
Normally, Rector is set as a
300 meter practice track around an artificial turf football field.
Pole vaulting is done at one end of the fieldhouse from a 160 foot runway into a UCS model 1900 landing pit.
During the Winter months a competition,
200 meter banked track is assembled and the pole vault is moved to the inside of that oval.
Vaulting is done from a 160 foot raised runway with a synthetic surface onto a UCS 1900 landing pit.
Current plans call for the construction of a second fieldhouse at which point the competion track will be
set up permenatly in Rector.
The Johnson-Miller Track Complex
is our outdoor home.
The complex houses a 400 meter mondo track with multiple pole vault runways.
Currently we are using the South runways and "Goliath".
Goliath is
Virginia Tech's double-front UCS 1900 landing pit.
The Pit, along with two sets of Gill International standards allows us to jump with an East or West wind.
Both indoor and outdoor facilities have a pole storage area.
Virginia Tech pole vaulters also do workouts in the gymnastics facility in the War Memorial Gym.
Among other things, the gym includes a spring floor, trampoline, tumble-trac, rings,
and a high bar with strap capabilities.
